DashThis MCP Connector: How It Works and What You Need to Know
The MCP Connector links your AI assistant to your DashThis account, so you can ask about your dashboards in plain language and get answers based on your real reporting data.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect securely to outside tools and data. The DashThis MCP Connector uses it to give an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT a direct, read-only view of your DashThis dashboards.
What the MCP Connector does
Once connected, your AI assistant can look at the dashboards in your DashThis account and answer questions about them. You stay in your assistant, and it pulls the numbers straight from your reports.
- Finds your dashboards. The assistant can list the dashboards in your account and tell them apart by name, group, and data source.
- Reads current values. It can pull the current values of the widgets on a dashboard for a period you choose, such as the last 30 days or last month.
- Confirms the connection. It can check which DashThis account it is connected to before it answers.
How does it work?
- Connect your AI assistant to DashThis once, using your normal DashThis login. The connection is secured with OAuth, so you never paste an API key or password into the assistant.
- Ask a question about your reporting, for example “Which of my dashboards have a source error?” or “What were my sessions last month on the SEO dashboard?”
- Get an answer built from the live values on your dashboards.
It is read-only
The MCP Connector can read your dashboards, but it can never change them. It cannot create, edit, or delete dashboards, widgets, or data, and it only ever sees the account you connected. Your dashboards and data stay exactly as they are.
