How to automatically send dashboards to Zapier
DashThis can send any dashboard to Zapier on a recurring schedule by emailing your automated report to an Email by Zapier address, then route it anywhere.
How does sending a dashboard to Zapier work?
DashThis already sends automated email reports on a schedule you choose. Email by Zapier gives you an inbound email address that starts a Zap the moment a message arrives. Point your DashThis report at that address and every send kicks off your Zap on its own.
- On the DashThis side, you schedule a recurring email of your dashboard and set your Email by Zapier address as the recipient.
- On the Zapier side, each report that lands in your inbound address triggers a Zap, which can then forward the dashboard to any downstream app you connect, like Google Drive, Notion, a database, or another tool.
In short, once your Zap is listening at that address, DashThis becomes the trigger and Zapier becomes the router that sends your dashboard anywhere you want it.
How do you get your Zapier inbound email address?
Zapier calls this capability Email by Zapier. When you set it up, Zapier gives you a custom @zapiermail.com address that triggers your Zap whenever an email arrives. Create that address in Zapier, then copy it so you can paste it into DashThis.
Follow Zapier’s own guide, Trigger Zap workflows from new emails, to create your address. Relying on their documentation keeps these steps accurate even if Zapier changes its setup.
How do you schedule the dashboard email in DashThis?
- Open the dashboard.
- Click the sharing icon to the right of the dashboard period.
- Select “Share by email + automation”.
- Paste the address in the To field.
- Set the Frequency.
- Add an optional note.
- Click Send.
From now on, DashThis sends the dashboard to Zapier on the schedule you picked, and your Zap takes it from there. 🎉
How do you edit or stop the automation?
- Open the Email Sharing section of your dashboard.
- Click the pencil to change the schedule, swap the recipient, or remove it.
- Save your changes.
Good to know
- Sender address: reports arrive from notifications@dashthis.com. You can send from your own address by setting up a custom domain in DashThis.
- Multiple destinations: add more than one recipient in the same To field to send the same report to your Zapier address and a teammate at once.
- Zapier plan limits: whether Email by Zapier is available, along with your number of Zaps and monthly tasks, depends on your Zapier plan. Zapier also caps message size and does not guarantee instant delivery.
