# How to connect platforms DashThis does not integrate natively

## Your AI assistant can bring in data from any platform DashThis does not integrate natively, and Google Sheets is there as a second option.

DashThis integrates natively with the most popular marketing platforms. For everything else, you have two ways to get your numbers into a dashboard:

- **Custom Data Source (recommended):** your AI assistant reads the data and saves it in DashThis through the [MCP Connector](https://help.dashthis.com/what-is-an-mcp-connector?hsLang=en).
- **Google Sheets:** you keep the data in a spreadsheet, and DashThis reads it every hour.

### Which option should you pick?

- **Your AI assistant.** Pick it when you want the data in DashThis now, from a screenshot, a file or another MCP connector, without building a spreadsheet.
- **Google Sheets.** Pick it when your data already lands in a spreadsheet and you want DashThis to update it every hour on its own.

### Option 1: bring your data in with your AI assistant

With the DashThis MCP Connector, your AI assistant can turn data from almost any platform into a Custom Data Source in your DashThis account. There is no spreadsheet to build and no file format to learn: you show the data, and your assistant does the rest.

Your assistant can read the data from:

- the platform's own MCP connector, if it has one
- a screenshot of a report you paste in the conversation
- a file you have open in your assistant

#### How does it work?

1. **Connect** your AI assistant to DashThis with the MCP Connector, and approve "Create and change dashboards & data".
2. **Ask** your assistant, for example: "My client's call tracking tool isn't connected to DashThis. Add the calls from this screenshot as a data source on their dashboard."
3. **Check** how DashThis will read each column. Your assistant shows you the date column, the number columns, and whether each number is summed or averaged. Nothing is saved yet.
4. **Confirm**, and your assistant saves the data as a new source. It appears on your Connected Integrations page as a Custom Data Source.
5. **Add** the source to a dashboard, then build your widgets with Custom Widgets. 🎉

#### Keeping your data up to date

A Custom Data Source does not refresh on its own. To add new numbers, ask your assistant to send the new period to the same source. If you send a period again, its new numbers replace the old ones, so nothing is ever counted twice.

#### Notes and limitations

- **One date column.** Your table needs one date column and at least one number column. If your data has no dates, your assistant asks you which period it covers.
- **Plan sources.** Each new Custom Data Source counts as one of your plan's sources. Adding data to a source you already have does not.
- **Large tables.** Your assistant sends up to 500 rows and 30 columns at a time. For a longer history, it sends the data in several passes, one date range at a time.
- **Sum or average.** To choose how a number is combined, add \[SUM\] or \[AVG\] to the column name, the same way as in Google Sheets.
- **No preset widgets.** Build your widgets for a Custom Data Source with Custom Widgets.
- **Changes and removals.** Your assistant can rename a source or stop reporting on one of its columns. It cannot delete rows or a source. Remove a source from your Connected Integrations page, and contact our Support Team to remove rows.

### Option 2: connect your data with Google Sheets

If your platform can export its data to a spreadsheet on a schedule, Google Sheets is a good fit. DashThis reads your sheet and updates your dashboard every hour, without anyone sending the data again.
