Twitter metrics and dimensions

Metric Name Description Calculations (if applicable)
Listed Count* The number of public lists to which your Twitter page is linked. However, when this metric is combined with the “User” dimension (with which the # hashtag filter is obligatory), this will show the number of tweets in which a user used the particular # hashtag.
Followers Count* The number of followers your page has. However, when this metric is combined with the “User” dimension (for which the # hashtag filter is obligatory), this will show the number of followers for each user who used the particular # hashtag. On the other hand, when this metric is combined with the “Post” dimension, this will show the number of followers for each user who mentioned your page.
Mentions Count The number of tweets that mention your page (the number provided by Twitter’s Search API corresponds to the number of monthly mentions shown in the “Notifications” section of your Twitter account, instead of the number shown in the Analytics section).  However, when this metric is combined with the “User” dimension (with which the # hashtag filter is obligatory), this will show the number of tweets containing the particular # hashtag in which users also mentioned your page.
Retweet Count The total number of retweets for tweets that your page published over the course of the selected period (this number will most likely be higher than what is seen in the Analytics section of your Twitter account since Twitter’s Search API also takes into account retweets that occurred after the selected period). However, when this metric is combined with the “User” dimension (with which the # hashtag filter is obligatory), this will show the number of your posts’ retweets containing the particular # hashtag.
Please note: This does not include Quote Tweets

Tweets* This metric can only be used with the # hashtag filter, in which case it shows the total number of tweets (for all of Twitter, not just your page), in which the particular # hashtag was used. When this metric is combined with the “User” dimension, this will show the number of tweets by the user in which the particular # hashtag was used. On the other hand, when this metric is combined with the “Post” dimension, this will show the number of times a post containing the particular # hashtag was tweeted.
Follower Engagement Rate The rate of follower engagement is calculated with the following formula: This metric cannot be used with any dimension. Retweet Count + Mentions Count + Listed count / Followers count
Users* This metric can only be used with the # hashtag filter, in which case it shows the total number of unique users that used the particular # hashtag. When this metric is combined with the “User” dimension, this will show the number of tweets by the user in which the particular # hashtag was used. On the other hand, when this metric is combined with the “Post” dimension, this will show the number of times a post containing the particular # hashtag was tweeted.
Twitter Impressions* This metric can only be used with the # hashtag filter, in which case it shows the sum of the total number of followers for each user that tweeted a post in which they used the particular # hashtag. However, when this metric is combined with the “User” dimension, this will show the number of tweets in which users used the particular # hashtag. On the other hand, when this metric is combined with the “Post” dimension, this will show the number of times each post containing this particular # hashtag was tweeted.

Note: Metrics accompanied by an asterisk (*) will not contain historic data when you first create a widget in DashThis, since Twitter’s Search API provides a maximum of 7 days of historic data. However, DashThis will store your data for each Twitter widget you create. As such, over time, you will be able to see your historic information within your DashThis dashboards.
