Snapchat Ads filters
Here are the filters available when you build Snapchat Ads widgets in DashThis.
The Snapchat Ads integration is currently in beta. If you would like early access, please contact our support team.
Filters:
- Campaign, to keep the campaigns whose name matches what you enter.
- Ad Squad, to keep the ad squads whose name matches. Ad squad is Snapchat’s name for an ad group.
- Ad, to keep the ads whose name matches.
- Campaign Status, to keep campaigns that are Active or Paused.
- Ad Squad Status, to keep ad squads that are Active or Paused.
- Ad Status, to keep ads that are Active or Paused.
- Country, to keep the countries your ads were served in.
- Region, to keep the regions your ads were served in.
- Gender, to keep the audience genders you pick.
- Age, to keep the age buckets you pick.
- Operating System, to keep the device operating systems you pick.
- Conversion Settings, to set the attribution window Snapchat counts your conversions in.
The name filters and the audience filters accept Equals, Does not equal, Contains, Does not contain and In. The three status filters and Conversion Settings accept In only, and you pick your values from a list instead of typing them.
Filtering by status
The status filters offer two values, Active and Paused. Those are the statuses Snapchat keeps on the campaign, the ad squad or the ad itself.
Snapchat also shows a delivery status in Ads Manager, which it works out from that status plus your schedule, your budget and the review outcome. Delivery status is not available as a filter in DashThis, so an ad squad that is set to Active but is out of budget still comes through the Active filter.
Filters follow your breakdown
Every filter on a widget has to point at the same dimension the widget is broken down by. The widget editor only offers you the filters that fit, so you will not be able to build a combination that Snapchat cannot serve.
The Campaign, Ad Squad and Ad filters, along with their status filters, work on a widget broken down by that same dimension, and also on a widget with no dimension at all. On a single total, DashThis breaks the data down behind the scenes so the filter still applies.
The Country, Region, Gender, Age and Operating System filters only appear when your widget is broken down by that same dimension, because the value exists only on those rows.
If a widget does end up with a filter that does not match its breakdown, it comes back empty rather than dropping the filter and showing you a number that ignored it.
Conversion Settings
Conversion Settings is not a way to narrow your rows. It sets the attribution window, which is how long after a swipe or a view a conversion still counts. It appears only when your widget uses a conversion metric such as Purchases, App Installs or Sign-ups, since there is nothing for it to change otherwise.
Leave it empty and Snapchat applies your ad account’s own default. The eight windows you can choose from are:
- 28-day swipe / 1-day view
- 28-day swipe / 7-day view
- 28-day swipe / no view
- 7-day swipe / 1-day view
- 7-day swipe / 7-day view
- 7-day swipe / no view
- 1-day swipe / 1-day view
- 1-day swipe / no view
The first half is the swipe window and the second half is the view window, so 28-day swipe / 1-day view counts a conversion that happens within 28 days of a swipe, or within 1 day of a view.
