How to use page breaks for PDF exports
When exporting your DashThis dashboards to PDF, the layout you see on screen isn’t always exactly what ends up in the final file. In some cases, widgets can be too tall, take up too much vertical space, or get awkwardly split between two pages. To help you keep your PDF exports clean and professional, DashThis introduced the Page Break option.
What is a page break?
A page break lets you force a new PDF page before a specific widget header. This ensures that large widgets, tables, or sections don’t get cut in half when the dashboard is exported.
Instead of letting DashThis automatically decide where a page ends, you stay in control of the layout.
How to add a page break to a widget
You can add a page break directly from the widget settings:- Hover over the widget you want to adjust
- Click the Edit widget (⚙️) icon

- In the Layout section, check Insert a page break before this header

- Click save
When you export your dashboard to PDF, this widget will automatically start on a new page.
When should you use page breaks?
Page breaks are especially useful when:
-
A widget is very tall (tables, lists, detailed breakdowns)
-
A widget is split across two PDF pages
-
You want to clearly separate sections (e.g. Social Media Performance, Paid Ads, SEO)
Best practices for better PDF layouts
-
Add page breaks before large widgets, not after
-
Use page breaks to group related widgets on the same page
-
Preview your PDF export and adjust page breaks if needed
Using page breaks strategically helps you create clear, structured, and professional PDF reports, without awkward cuts or layout issues.
