How to connect with Shopify

Shopify is a leading e-commerce platform that allows you to create and manage an online store. By connecting Shopify to DashThis, you can automatically visualize your store’s performance, sales, customers, and products in one centralized dashboard.

 

The Shopify integration is currently in beta.

Permissions: No specific permissions are required, however connecting Shopify requires a Shopify Partner account and the creation of a custom app to securely access your data.

 

Follow the visual guide below for step-by-step instructions. If needed, you’ll also find the written steps at the end of this article.

 

Create a Custom App in Shopify

  1. Log in to the Shopify Partner dashboard (Use the credentials linked to your store):

  2. Select the Partner account associated with your store.

  3. In the top-right menu (your account name), click Dev Dashboard.

  4. Select the Partner account again if prompted.

  5. Click Apps, then click Create app.

  6. Enter a name for your app and click Create.

  7. Add the following API scopes so DashThis can access your data:

    read_analytics, read_customers, read_orders, read_products, read_reports

  8.  Once added, click Release.

  9. (Optional) Enter a version name, then click Release again.

  10. Select the latest version of your app and click Home in the left menu.

  11. Under Distribution, click Select distribution method.
    ⚠️ Important: Do not click Install app in the Installs section.⚠️
  12. Choose Custom distribution and click Select.
  13. Enter your shop name followed by .myshopify.com
    (Example: dashthis.myshopify.com)
  14. Click Generate link.
  15. Copy the generated link.
  16. Paste the link into a new browser tab.
  17. Select the store.
  18. Click Install.
  19. After installing the app, go back to the Dev Dashboard.
  20. Select your app and click Settings in the left menu.
  21. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret — you’ll need them to connect the app to DashThis.
  22. Log in to your DashThis account.
  23. Click Integrations.
  24. Click the Add + button next to Shopify.
  25. Enter the following information:

    - Shop name

    - Client ID

    - Client Secret

  26. Click Connect.

🎉 That’s it!

Your Shopify account is now connected to DashThis and ready to be used in your dashboards.
