How to connect missing Facebook or Instagram data sources

Due to particularities enforced by Facebook’s APIs, your pages or accounts must comply to a series of parameters in order to appear in a third-party tool, otherwise your accounts or pages might not appear among your data sources in DashThis.

When creating a dashboard with Facebook Insights, Facebook Ads, or Instagram Insights, as for any integration, you need to choose the data sources you want to include in your dashboard.

Each data source represents a Facebook page, a Facebook ad account, or an Instagram account.

If you’re looking for a data source that’s missing from your list, don’t worry, here are the most effective solutions to help you resolve the issue in an instant.

Facebook Insights

If you can’t see your Facebook page in the list of available data sources for your Facebook Insights integration, here’s what you should do:

#1: Reauthorize your Facebook Insights integration

1. Reconnect your Facebook Insights integration by going in the integration manager, and clicking on the “Add+” button. To know how to do this, read our  Help Center article.

2. Check if you can now see your Facebook page among the list of data sources by creating a new dashboard.

#2: Verify your role permissions in your Facebook account.

1. Verify that you are an actual user of your Facebook Page by going in the settings of this page. An Analyst Role is sufficient to access the insights of your page and connect it into DashThis.

2. Verify also that you have the right permissions for the same page in your Facebook Business Manager. The View Page Performance permission is the only one needed to access Facebook Insights’ data in DashThis.

It’s important to note that Instagram is owned by Facebook and uses the same API. So, in order to resolve issues affecting your Instagram Insights integration, you might need to go in your Facebook account.

#1: Verify that your Instagram account is a business account linked to a Facebook page.

1. Access the Instagram account through your Instagram mobile app and confirm it is a business account (you should see the Insights section in the menu at the top right).
