How often data is updated in my dashboards?
DashThis automatically keeps your data up to date, so you can always rely on the numbers you see in your dashboards.
The goal of DashThis is not to display real-time data, but to ensure your reports always show the most accurate and complete results from your connected platforms.
How data is refreshed
Widgets update themselves at most once a day, when you first open your dashboard or consult a reporting period. The way data is refreshed can vary depending on the period viewed (current vs past), the integration, and the specific metrics included in each widget.
Current vs Past Periods
Current periods: Data is refreshed about once a day to ensure your dashboards always display the most recent information available.
Past periods: Data generally remains unchanged once it has been imported. However, some platforms may continue to update certain metrics for a short time after the period ends. This delay is called latency, and we’ll explain this concept in more detail below.
Latency
As mentioned above, some metrics take additional time to be fully updated through each platform’s API, and every platform has its own delay before new data becomes available.
At DashThis, this process is handled automatically, so you don’t need to worry about it. We know which metrics are affected by latency, and they are continuously updated during that period to ensure your widgets always display accurate and complete data.
Here are a few examples of latency depending on the integration:
- Google Search Console: about 3 days
- Google My Business: up to 10 days
- Most advertising and social integrations (Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, YouTube, LinkedIn Ads, etc.): about 1 day
In addition to these general rules, it is important to note that some metrics have their own specific latency depending on how they behave over time.
For example, email interaction metrics such as Opens and Clicks in Mailchimp continue to evolve long after a campaign is sent. While the overall integration follows the usual 1-day latency, these specific metrics can keep updating for up to 90 days, since users may continue interacting with the emails weeks or even months later.
All of these updates are handled automatically in the background, but it is helpful to keep this in mind when analyzing reports, especially when reviewing recent campaigns or metrics that naturally evolve over time.
Note: You can manually refresh a specific widget at any time by clicking “Refresh data” in the widget menu to check if new information is available.
That said, this is rarely necessary, since our refresh process is already optimized to provide you with the most up-to-date data possible. Manual refresh should only be used as a last resort.
